Meet The Yoga Teachers At North Vancouver Yoga:

Amber

After 16 years of practicing Yoga and working in the corporate world, Amber wondered why her life hadn't worked for her so she amusingly thought to herself, "well, no wonder — what have I done for it?". To restore the much needed and sadly missing work/life balance in her life, Amber made the bold move to become a Yoga Teacher through Prana Yoga College and turned her obsession into a career by bringing Yoga into the corporate world. To the hospital, fire, police and paramedic staff who needed it the most because they work impossible shifts. And to those who otherwise could not afford it or thought they couldn't physically do it.

Amanda

Amanda believes that the practice of Yoga, with its focus on stillness and self-reflection, can help in discovering the passion that makes someone come alive. For her, it is sharing the joy of Yoga with others. She teaches Classical Hatha Yoga for all levels. Classes flow from one posture to another, with emphasis on safety, clarity and effortless movement. Her intention is to help you move mindfully with breath, calming your body and relaxing your mind. Encouraging you to listen to your body, she will stress that pain is not part of Yoga. Your body and breath will tell you when a posture is not right for you. Remember that physical flexibility is not required to begin a Yoga Practice. All you need is an open mind and heart — a flexible body will follow naturally.

Duncan

Duncan completed his classical Hatha Yoga Training with Shakti Mhi. His passion for Yoga is infectious. His practitioners come away feeling relaxed from the stresses in life. He invites you to be connected with the universe through your mind, body and soul. We are all one.

Sarah

A UBC undergraduate student, Sarah has studied ballet, jazz and modern dance for 6 years and trained under Shakti Mhi of Prana Yoga Teacher College. Certified in First Aid and CPR, she teaches flow Hatha Yoga in clear and precise details with emphasis on safety and breathing. She demonstrates different variations of each posture to suit all levels and uses appropriate voice projection and body language in class. She is fun and positive and explains anatomy benefits, Yoga philosophy and safety issues to motivate and encourage students.
